Single Parenting..

Many experts will say that a baby is better off having a mother and a father, two parents to bring him up and offer support and love. But, for many reasons, that is not always possible and there are a lot of single-parent families out there.

Is baby worse off being part of a one-parent family? Financially - almost certainly. It also helps if there is someone else to share the load. But is the child in a one-parent family affected emotionally and psychologically? Most people would probably say 'yes' here too, but sociologists at Stockholm University have studied one parent and step-parent families and found that children are no worse off emotionally or psychologically than those who live with both biological parents.

Apparently what a baby or older child needs is a supportive family and someone who will be there when he really needs your help, and it is not important whether the family is made up of one parent or two.
